Welcome to the Castle of Diósgyőr! It is of high importance to us to ensure that every visitor enjoys their visit to our institution; therefore we strive to avoid any misunderstandings. In order to enter the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr, you are required to accept the policy of the Castle of Diósgyőr, and take notice that compliance with it will be checked. Please read it carefully.
- The opening time of the Castle of Diósgyőr is in a seasonal schedule. More information is available about the opening hours at the ticket office and the official website of the Castle of Diósgyőr (www.diosgyorivar.hu).
- During events, access to certain rooms may be restricted. In all cases information about this shall be provided in the ticket office and on the official website of the Castle of Diósgyőr.
- The exhibitions of the Castle of Diósgyőr may be visited only if you hold a valid entrance ticket. Admission is granted to our events after purchasing a program ticket and occasionally wearing an arm band. Except for free events. At the time of certain events held in the Castle of Diósgyőr, admission prices are subject to change even within the opening hours. For information about the valid entrance fees and the conditions of a visit to the castle, please request information at the ticket office.
- When purchasing a ticket, please show your ID that entitles you to a discount. In the absence of an ID, we will not be able to issue a ticket on a discount price.
- Day tickets and arm bands are valid for one day (until the end of the opening time on a given day). Except for program tickets and arm bands of several-day long events, which may even entitle you to several admissions.
- Visitors are kindly requested to retain their program tickets or entrance tickets for the whole duration of the event/castle visit because ticket inspectors may check them at the gates upon entrance or exit, as well as the employees of Safety Service in the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr at any time.
- We assist access of disabled visitors in the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr the best we can. Entry into the castle is assisted by a stair lift, which is operated by the security staff. The stair lift is only available to disabled visitors. While planning your visit to the castle, please take into consideration that access to the castle is only possible by taking a significant number of stairs. Please, indicate your intention to use the stair lift at the ticket office.
- To go to the upstairs rooms of the Castle of Diósgyőr, you can use the lifts.
- It is strictly forbidden to take dogs to the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr.
- It is forbidden to take food or drinks to the exhibitions of the Castle of Diósgyőr.
- Photography and filming for private purposes in the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr is authorised provided all safety rules of the Castle of Diósgyőr are complied with and the photos/videos do not offend public morality, other people’s dignity and remain within the limits of good taste.
- Visitors are required to do their best to protect their own and other people’s lives, physical integrity, as well as the buildings, equipment and assets of the Castle of Diósgyőr and to avoid posing any threat or danger to them. The Castle of Diósgyőr does not take responsibility for any injury of people or damage to material goods if it is caused by any irresponsible behaviour of visitors.
- A surveillance camera system is installed in the inner rooms of the Castle of Diósgyőr, which continuously records video images in order to protect the assets of the institution. Videos made this way are not accessible for third parties, except for the competent authorities.
- Please observe the safety signs showing warnings and forbidding displayed in the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr at all times.
- The area may pose trip and slip hazard, therefore, visitors are kindly asked to walk with care. It is recommended to wear closed, non-slip shoes supporting the ankle; open and unstable shoes not supporting the feet a (e.g., slippers, high heels, etc.) are not recommended.
- It is strictly forbidden to use roller skates, rollers, ride-ons and skate boards in the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr. Please place all such objects into the designated store room in the lower castle yard. Information about the location of the store room is available at the ticket office.
- In the construction areas the use of protective equipment is mandatory!
- Unauthorised entry into the enclosed areas is dangerous and strictly forbidden!
- Climbing on the castle wall, the cannon or any exhibit is life-threatening and therefore strictly forbidden!
- Visitors are held responsible for any damage or vandalism caused by them, including paying compensation.
- Taking any dangerous objects, capable of causing injuries into the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr is strictly forbidden!
- It is strictly forbidden to take drones and other devices or objects putting other visitors into danger or causing disturbance to them into the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr without prior authorisation.
- In the event of any exceptional occurrence (e.g., natural disaster, fire, bomb scare, etc.) visitors have to comply with the instructions given to them by the employees of the Castle of Diósgyőr, and behave in accordance with the provisions of the emergency evacuation plan of the institution.
- The Castle of Diósgyőr does not take responsibility for any valuable objects and belongings left in the territory of the castle. Lost and found possessions can be retrieved in the ticket office of the Castle of Diósgyőr within 1 week.
- Smoking is strictly forbidden in the upper castle yard. Except for the cafe on the terrace of the upper castle yard where customers are allowed to smoke at the designated tables within opening hours. It is allowed to smoke at the designated places of the lower castle yard as well, of which you may obtain information from our safety staff.
- In the entire territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr, activities that go beyond the historical monument character as well as business activities are subject to written authorisation by the castle management.
- Photography and filming for non-private purposes are subject to authorisation, which is issued in a written form by the Director of the Castle of Diósgyőr – based on prior registration.
- At the time of guided tours, making voice or video recordings as well as using selfie sticks are forbidden.
- Visitors participate in events at their own risk.
- The event organiser retains the right to change the date/time, the venue, the performers and to cancel the event.
- Tickets are only refundable for cancelled events.
- If an event is cancelled, tickets are refunded as follows:
- If an event organised by the Castle of Diósgyőr is cancelled, tickets are refundable exclusively at the ticket office of the Castle of Diósgyőr within 30 days after the scheduled date of the event, which is a limitation period.
- If an event not organised but hosted by the Castle of Diósgyőr is cancelled, information about ticket refunding may be obtained from the event organiser.
- To replace or refund lost, annihilated or damaged tickets is not possible.
- During events, filming and photography are taken of the events. If, in any of the photos of video images you appear as visible or recognisable, no claim or demand may be raised by you either against the photographer/film maker or the event organiser.
- Guided tours start every 30 minutes from the Guided Tours Starting Point near the stairs in the Upper castle yard.
- The duration of a guided tour may vary depending upon the character embodied by the guide but normally takes 40 minutes.
- The price of the guided tour is included in the ticket price. Except for visitors that can visit the Castle of Diósgyőr free of charge (a list of those entitled to free admission is displayed in the ticket office and on the website of the Castle of Diósgyőr), they may use this service by purchasing a supplementary ticket for guided tours.
The above measures taken by the management of the Castle of Diósgyőr are mandatory for all visitors. The above provisions are the rules of the Castle’s Policy. Any visitor that violates this policy, following a warning, may be barred from the territory of the Castle of Diósgyőr for a given period of time or for good and may be subjected to legal procedure by the authorities. The violator or the person responsible for the violator shall be held responsible for any damage caused due to the violation of this policy. If a violation of this policy is also a violation of the law, the violator or the person responsible for the violator shall be held responsible for breaking the law and any sanctions imposed under the law shall be borne by them. It is our mutual interest to comply with the policy of the castle, and therefore visitors are kindly asked to assist in doing so.

- If a rained out event has a designated rescheduled day and venue, tickets are not refunded. Tickets purchased are refundable if the event is cancelled by Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC, or if the event may not be held on the designated rescheduled day or venue due to unfavourable weather.
- It is in the intent of Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC to begin and continue open-air events even in unfavourable weather conditions. As certain sectors of the Arena for Jousting Tournaments are not roofed, spectators / the audience are advised to bring warm and waterproof clothes in case bad weather occurs. Please consider bringing a raincoat in the first place.
- PRELIMINARY INFORMATION ON WEATHER:
In the event of unfavourable weather conditions Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC shall display information in a communiqué by 15.00 o’clock at the latest on the day of the scheduled event on www.diosgyorivar.hu webpage. If no communiqué is issued, then Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC is preparing to hold the event. Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC retains the right to cancel the event on the spot depending on weather conditions.
- IN THE EVENT OF UNFAVOURABLE WEATHER DURING THE EVENT IN THE VENUE:
a) If an event is played without a break: the event is deemed held if half the event has been performed.
b) For two-part events with a designated rescheduled day, in the event of unfavourable weather occurring at the beginning of the first part or during the first part: if technical hindrances or unfavourable weather conditions occur, then the start of the event, or the continuation of the interrupted first part shall be delayed one hour after the scheduled starting time. Therefore, about whether or not an event is going to be held on the day of the event as scheduled, Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC makes a decision on the spot. If because of unfavourable weather conditions the event is interrupted before the end of the first part and the event is not held, the tickets are valid for the rescheduled day, as announced on the website www.diosgyorivar.hu. In the case of an event delayed to a rescheduled day, tickets are only refunded if the event is not held on the rescheduled day. In such a case tickets may be returned and refunded within 10 days after the cancelled event at the venue of the ticket purchase during the opening hours. The ticket office does not have an authentication for refunding tickets after the deadline. The venue ticket office and other ticket offices that sell tickets for the event are not obliged to refund tickets. No refunding of tickets is possible on the spot on the day of the cancelled event!
c) For two-part events with no designated rescheduled day in the event of unfavourable weather occurring at the beginning of the first part or during the first part: if technical hindrances or unfavourable weather conditions occur, then the start of the event, or the continuation of the interrupted first part shall be delayed one hour after the scheduled starting time. Therefore, about whether or not an event is going to be held on the day of the event as scheduled, Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC makes a decision on the spot. The ticket office does not have an authentication for refunding tickets after the deadline.
d) For two-part events if unfavourable weather conditions occur after the first part of the event: if due to unfavourable weather conditions the event is interrupted, the event shall be deemed held.
e) Purchased tickets are not refundable if the customer left the venue of the interrupted event but with weather turning for the better it was held later that night.
f) IN THE EVENT OF UNFAVOURABLE WEATHER OCCURRING AGAIN ON THE RESCHEDULED DAY: if technical hindrances or unfavourable weather conditions occur, then the start of the event, or the continuation of the interrupted first part shall be delayed one hour after the scheduled starting time. If due to recurring technical hindrances or unfavourable weather conditions the event held on the rescheduled day is cancelled, tickets for the event tickets may be returned and refunded within 10 days after the cancelled event at the venue of the ticket purchase during the opening hours or may be exchanged for other events. The ticket office does not have an authentication for refunding tickets after the deadline. - FORCE MAJEURE:
If, as a consequence of any war, rebellion, terror attack, strike, accident, fire, blockade, flood, natural disaster, severe disturbance in energy supply or any other unforeseeable and unresolvable obstacle or hindrance that is beyond the control of Customer or Miskolc Cultural Centre Non-profit LLC, either of the parties fails to comply with its contractual obligations, then that party shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused by any of the aforementioned events.
Please, make sure you retain your ticket until the end of the event as it serves the purpose of admission on a rescheduled day designated for making up for an interrupted event!

In the event of any grievances relating the use of their data, a registered user may submit a petition to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, or may initiate legal action at the court competent in the area where the subscriber resides.
